Guildess is a contemporary female art collective based in Milwaukee, WI that was started in January 2009. Our goals are to grow, learn, network, and serve the community together. We host regular Gallery Night shows (which men and women are both invited to enter) and a yearly member’s show. Each exhibition benefits a local charity. We also organize educational workshops and social events for members. We meet monthly to critique art, chat, laugh, eat and plan upcoming events. |

Transdiaspora Project is an on-going series of art exhibits that bring together artists from diverse locations and heritages around overarching themes. The Transdiaspora paradigm makes transverse and horizontal connections between artists of minoritarian communities as well as majoritarian populations. Digital archives of previous Transdiaspora exhibits are available at www.transdiaspora.org. About the Jurer: Pritika Chowdhry Pritika Chowdhry explores cultural forms of memory and representations of historical trauma in her current work. Working in clay and fibers, Pritika creates sculptural installations that function as mobile memorials. Pritika has founded the Partition Memorial Project which exists as temporary art exhibits as well as a digital archive, www.partitionmemorialproject.org.

Today, modern design includes the warm tones of reclaimed wood and the enhancing beauty of rooftop gardens. Nature and beauty are invading the drab urban landscape. Not just in our surroundings but our attitudes as well. 25% of sold items will go to benefit Growing Power, a national nonprofit organization and land trust supporting people from diverse backgrounds, and the environments in which they live, by helping to provide equal access to healthy, high-quality, safe and affordable food for people in all communities based in Glendale, WI.

Juried Group Show featuring work by the LGBT community and its allies. The Lesbian Alliance and The Milwaukee LGBT Community Center are cosponsoring a women’s art exhibition focused on Mother Earth in daily life. In many cultures there are evocations of mother earth including, Gaia, in greek mythology; Matka Ziemia, in Slavonic mythology; and Shakti in Hindism. In today’s world with environmental concerns rising and resources becoming limited how do we both take care of ourselves and our earth?

Early bidding starts on Gallery Night, Friday, April 17 and continues on Gallery Day, Saturday, April 18. On Saturday, April 25 the Silent Auction Event will take place at 5pm with live music and refreshments. Come see the new space and make a bid.... and help provide some heat. |
