About Karina Schafer

 
 

Karina is a photographer, mixed-media artist, graphic designer and small business owner based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She received her Bachelor of Fine Art with a focus on Photography and an English minor from UW-Milwaukee. Family history, memory, nature, travel, music and expressionism have significantly influenced her work.

Karina works in both commercial and fine art photography. Her fine art has been shown in various galleries in Milwaukee and Chicago. Professionally, she has worked with Visual Image Photography (VIP), based in Cedarburg, Wisconsin, doing yearbook and event photography. As a freelance photographer, she concentrates on portraiture and event photography, working with such clients as The Community Share of Greater Milwaukee, Penfield Children's Center, and Racine Art Museum. She’s had photographs published in Highlander MagazineShepherd ExpressOnMilwaukee.com, among others.

From 2009 to 2012, Karina served on the Board of Directors for Guildess: Contemporary Female Art Collective. In 2019, Karina became the owner of Schafer and Associates, a small custom textile graphics business her mother, Kathy Schafer, started in 1993. In 2021, she was elected Assistant Secretary of the St. Andrew’s Society of the City of Milwaukee and served on their Executive Board from 2021 to 2022.

Any chance to steal away in her van to go camping, she seizes – with her camera, journal and a dog-eared book along for the adventure.
